Peter Hagelstein is a physicist and researcher working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. He obtained his bachelor's and PhD degrees in electrical engineering at MIT before joining the faculty at the Institute. Hagelstein's research interests include condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, and nuclear reactions. He is particularly known for his work on low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR), an area of research that seeks to develop practical techniques for generating energy from nuclear reactions at low temperatures. Hagelstein has authored over 130 scholarly articles and is widely regarded as a leading figure in the LENR community.
